Anyone have any experience with the Weaver Classic K 4x scope? How do they compair to the Leupold FXII's?

I have no doubt whatsoever that the leupold will be brighter, but you could probably frame a house using the old weavers.

I had an old 4 power weaver that had a command post in it. Boy I could sure get good results with the post. I do not do as well with crosshairs.

x2, they are a pretty fair scope and I beleive that they are still being manufactured, and if I had one on a rifle I wouldn't feel inferior because of it. But I would say there are better quality optics on the market in the same price range were I looking at getting a new scope.

I'm just looking for a fixed power scope in the 4x range and other than leupold I'm having a hard time finding one. Heck with the Leuopld I can't even find one but I can find Weaver's. I was going to go with a FXII initially but if I can find one it does me no good.

Got a couple weavers, a good old k4 fro 1969 still sits on one of my /06's...I wouldn't trade in either of my weavers on a leupold....

I like fixed scopes and have had several weavers over the years. IMO, they put out a very good product and comparing the price difference with the leo., the weaver is not far enough behind to justify that difference. To me, scopes are more of a personal thing. Our eyes being as different as they are, you have to go look through them and make a choice that seems good for you. Today there are many choices and scope technology has really improved across the board. Leupold is no longer the only best option.

I have a K4 bought in1987 and mounted on my S&W 270 and it is still going strong.Sure there are better ones out there but at 25 yrs. old and not an ounce of troubles from it I would say that it was a hundred and some bucks well spent. And trust me it has been treated with anything but respect!

Old Weaver scopes? ??? I'd consider them in a New York minute.

I bought my first scope in 75 for $50, a K4W with post and cross hair. It has been to hell and back and I'll never get rid of it. I just picked up another old one on Ebay. I'm pretty sure these are not made anymore and if they are they won't compare to the old ones.

I have also used a few of the new Weaver scopes and consider them to be a good scope for the money. Whether or not they are equal to the LeupoldII, I can't really say but they are a good, solid scope.
I don't think they are quite as rugged as the original K series scopes but they ain't bad.
Too many scope companies have eschewed the manufacture of good fixed power scopes and the hunters are the losers. Leeper

Most hunters can't shoot within the capability of their equipment. Most in fact as I've recently seen can't be unglued from the truck seat. Therefore the discussions should be based more around truck comforts and accessories rather than optics, equipment and ballistics. Truck seat cover patterns would be far more interesting.

I have a K4 steel duplex on a trebble two sako vixen, Its done lots of miles, hell its been from one end of the southern alps to the other, made a living culling goats and extra cash meat hunting deer with it,
Took a dive of a bluff one day broke the stock and put a huring great dent in the scope tube and another in the lens end, figgered it would be toast and fog up, well that was about 1986 ish and the sako has a new stock, but still has that K4.
Your in good hands, with a K4, simple, tough, strong, reliable, resanable glass.

So I found a K4 today and picked it up. best part is I got it for $40 less than the asking price. So far I can't complain. I'll be mounting it tommorow and sighting it in this week so I can take it out for opening day on the 20th! Gotta say I hope everything works out! Thanks for all the advice guys!
