Default Doing some boat work, where to get flooring?

I am making a few modifications to my boat. Mainly adding a gear compartment into a place with nothing in it other then floatation foam. I am having trouble finding the vinyl used for flooring. Ideally I could find some that's a close match in color to the original but at this point any color would be fine. I called a few boat dealers but they do not seem to carry it which seems odd to me. Everything I find online is for huge rolls and I only need a piece of flooring about 2'x3'. Anyone know of somewhere in Alberta that has it?

If your just doing sections this won’t help but If you are doing the entire floor your could get it sprayed with bed liner.

Have you considered using outdoor vinyl? (the type that works for outdoor decks)

I'm sure home depot has something suitable.

Default Vinyl

Use the outdoor vinyl, did my boat floor last year and it has held up well. It comes in 4 ft wide panels and the upolstery shop i went to would sell it by the foot for length.

Absolutely....That's exactly what I covered my drop-in floor sections with. 10+ yrs later they still look great. Spilled mixed fuel on them, fish slime and who knows what else, bit of soap, water and a scrub brush and they always come clean.

To the OP, I still have some left (it's gray) and I would gladly give you a piece.

Im not sure what exactly you are looking for, but if its the rubbery plastic finish that is multiple colors they used to have it at the soth side rona in edmonton 91st and 51ave in edmonton. It matched by boat exactly. That was about 5 years ago.

Good luck!

If you're pulling floor panels, check your Floatation foam to see if it has absorbed water. Believe it or not, it is not Closed Cell. It is spray in that expands and expands to fill the void. Each air bubble breaks to create a new air bubble but none of them are sealed.

I redid my boat years ago, and the floatation foam had absorbed to the point where it would rip through green garbage bags it weighed so much.

Easily 300 pds extra water in that foam from years of being outside stored.

At the time, I used Ducan Dekcoat that has ground rubber crumb in neopreme for a floor sealer.

Trouble is the product is now a latex and no where near as good as the old stuff. Probably better traction than vinyl though.
