Default Mauser K98 with 30-06 barrel

Hi folks

A fellow is offering me a Mauser K98 that has been re-barrelled to 30-06. The gun has a couple of scuffs on the stock, but, other than that, it looks perfect.

Can any of you tell me what sort of things I should look for to make sure the gun is copacetic?

He is asking $600.

Does the price sound okay?

Thanks for any advice.

What kind of Mauser? military ? country it was made could make a big difference
Original stock or sporter?

Default custom mauser

It is a custom Mauser, I think that he said it is "Dulaney", so, it is a reproduction and not an original military. It has scope mounts and rings. They look straight, but, how can I tell without shooting it?

The gun is a custom assembly by a gunsmith.

The price seems to be decent if it is a well done Sporter and the wood and bluing are in real good condition. A new high quality chambered barrel is about $700.00 alone and the K-98 is a real good action, worth another $200.00 or so.

If you like what you see and it all works as it should, it sounds like a good deal to me. Buyer Beware!
