Default Pics of PD Rig 641 between 1999 - 2003

I know this is a long shot.. But what the heck...

I am looking for some photos of a Precision Drilling rig that I use to roughneck on from 1999 – 2003. My career in the industry started as a roughneck on a cold winter night by Clearwater Alberta. I cut my teeth on rig 641 a big triple, (this was originally a Kenting Hightower rig) at the time owned by Precision Drilling. I am now looking for any pics of this rig during this time period. My goal is to find a decient pic and have it famed so I can hang it in my office.

A while ago I sent PD a similar inquiry but they did not respond. So decided to post something here with hopes that somone has a photo they can share or put me in touch with someone that might be able to.

Regards,

Shane Wolf

Good idea, but have not logged into my facebook account for over ~8 years, and have no idea what the password is or how I would find my account.

I bet my wife could post something though.

Cheers

An office is a far step from the rig eh!

Good luck on your quest.

The fastest way to talk to someone would be to call their main line and ask for a salesman.
Tell him your story and I'm sure he will look for one for you. Especially if you tell him you are now working for an Oil company and will be looking for a rig this summer... wink wink.

Old 641 is prolly layin in a scrapyard somewhere in the states I bet.
I have old Hightower 3 in a racksite. Decommissioned, and junk.

To much coin to redo the subs, and throw a top drive in the old conventional iron.

What kind of a sub was it??
Box on box, or a one piece??

Pd has decommissioned 70 something rigs in the last few years, all the old pd rigs I have worked on no longer exist 320,230,444,603 and 605 are all done I’m willing to bet 641 is also gone

Worked on 601 at Nordegg on that rigs last hole for Amoco in 1996.

Nice iron, excellent crews, best rig I ever worked now that I think about it.

Big Pete, 603 is in my racksite east of Lacombe. Last work they did was out north of Nordegg up in the Harlech country.

Good luck. I regret not getting any pics of my old rig. Spent seven years on my first rig and have one picture of the drawworks. That rig is decommissioned now.

Not PD 641, but I have 2 outstanding night photos (16" by 20") showing rig and flare from PD Rig #28UE on a Crossfield well taken in Jan 1994. This rig was an underbalanced horizontal. If interested, PM me.

Sooo, was it a box on box sub meaning tearout and rig up with cranes, or one piece sub meaning just big pole trucks and drawworks came off the ramp on a bed instead of being craned off??

I can't find any info... I prolly evened moved it...good chance I did actually...

Hayseed. All the Hightower rigs were like Big Cadillacs. Pole Trucks//Cranes. Likely couple days rigging up.

Yep you bet, but they had triples with a one pice sub, split the derrick, and no cranes involved.

I believe if if I remember right the Kenting side, had a few of them for sure....
Moved one all the time and I'm sure it was kenting 32 right in the town of DV, did like 4 holes.

A few years ago, like maybe 92-94 era??
Moved a pile of iron, loved movin them old Brelco rigs in the west pembina, big azz jomax rigs as well.....

Ahhhh so many memories...

A lot elk river/west pembina country, Edson an Hinton is where we did a lot of our work.

Loved movin those Brelcos for sure as well!!

Op, huge derail, but looks like there are a lot of folks who were doing the same thing in our early years. I am still movin iron, just can't shake it. Hopefully we can find or put you in touch, with someone who might have that pic you are lookin for.

I remember working on a Kenting Hightower rig around the Pink Mountain area in 94/95, not likely 641. It was the first serious iron that I worked on.

601 was there before moving to Nordegg. Do you remember the pushes name?

Ran casing a pile of times on that rig in that field during that time period. Ron Sutley was pushing it then.

Worked on a Sedco/Pd rig around Kindersley for a while that a Sutley pushed, think his name was Keith. That would have been about 23 years ago.
