Have a low key mother's day - it's really the best way to honor and bring thanks and appreciation for a parent. In some ways, the timing of this event might touch on why it's so important to go out of your way to say "thanks mom" (or in your wife's case) "thanks dad" for all those years of love and support.

REALLY sucks but celebrate anyhow. It will bring a smile to Grandpa and Grandma's faces as they look down on you.

Default go ahead

I am sure that those gone on before will only be smiling down on you and yours.
We must appreciate (even more) the ones we have around us. Might just be the most special mom's day ever. As previously stated; low key, but not to be ignored.

And sorry for your loss!!

Sorry for your loss.

It's a hard thing. I'd keep it very low key and have the kids remind her just how special she is and how much she means to them. She'll need it and them. Losing a parent is a hard thing, let her know she's still part of something great.

I would let the kids ask her if it is ok to celebrate Mother's Day in light of his passing and perhaps have the kids offer to say a prayer to her Dad at the meal

Condolences reece43, just go with the flow in the morning. If it's going to be a lay in bed all day, so be it. If she feels like a distraction, go enjoy it the best you can.

It's still Mother's Day, let the kids be with mom, lets her know she is loved and appreciated for all that she does.
Condolences.
