Default Bulk Fertilizer?

Anyone know where I can get fairly large quantities of fertilizer for my acreage lawn? I haven't had much luck with what I thought would be the usual places and an internet search was less than productive. I have about 2 acreas I would like to do.

Is there any special requirements to get bulk? Are "Green Drop" type places the better alternative to bagged granular (or liquid)?

Any help is appreciated and TIA.

What side of Calgary are you on?

The CPS in Didsbury will sell you a liquid fertilizer.

Look up Agrium or Crop Production Services (CPS).

When you say bulk how much do you mean. For 2 acres 200 lbs. should be lots. UFA sells 50 lb bags of 20-10-10-10 for about $25 a bag, or go to any fertilizer distributor and buy bags. If you are just trying to grow more grass, get 4 bags of 46-0-0. Straight nitrogen will get it green for you. It is probably $35 a bag or so. I know it is over $800 a ton right now.

can you even by fertilizer with that much nitrogen content (46-0-0) not that i wuold ever by straight nitrogen, but heard that they were going to make it so Joe Blow could not get any fertilizer that was realy high in nitrogen, and a mix like that should not be to hard to cook down and make it quite a bit higher nitrogen content

go with granular not liquid ( not practical and it works better on a pasture than a pretty lawn )

46-0-0 gives top growth , 46 % N, the other numbers work on root growth.

By it by the bag and spread it just before or during a rain, it will evaporate somewhat in hot windy conditions if it sits out for a few days before any rains ...

200 lbs /acre 46-0-0 will work fine if you want it green ( thats 92 pounds N )

If you buy a large amount of the 46-0-0 , expect the rcmp to come a calling. Good bomb making stuff. It better be raining while your putting it down or your lawn will burn in a day. We used to put that stuff down the old out house hole to help burn away the the contents in the hole.

46-0-0 is not ammonium nitrate based. It is based on Urea Formaldehyde which is not an explosive.

Why would the RCMP show up? It's not 34-0-0, I'm loading 30 tonne right now and nobody is harrassing me.

Correct... I saw some diptards one time trying to make amfo with urea based fertilizer... not work very well...

36-0-0 and.or 32-0-0 is what is regulated very strictly

I believe there is a Viterra on the North side of the road a couple of miles west of the Balzac Overpass. I pick up my lawn fertilizer there, they asked me if I was a landscaper, guess they buy from them. It has 4 ingredients and makes the lawn a darker green. They also have a variety of different mixes of lawn seed.

Good Luck.

High river has a CPS
Carsland DynAgra, CPS,
Balzac viterra

All have bulk fertilizer and fertilizer is in no means regulated except 34-0-0ammonium Nitrate which none of this places sell any more?

But you will probably be a big pain in the a** for these guys. They like to sell 45mt at a time. Just go to UFA and get 8 bags of a blend and get it done 200lbs/acre is not to much just water lots right after.

Fertilizer feeds the world! And if used properly is No problems.

Most Richardson Pioneer places will sell you a 5 gallon bucket mixed with whatever blend you want for $20
We use the money for employee BBQ's or donate to community projects.

Strathmore would probably be your closest location.

Hutchinson Fertilizer specializes in bulk sales. 5 minutes north of Big Hill Springs Road on Highway 766. 403-932-2131

I buy literally tons from them every year. Great fertilizer, great price.
