Default Youth Partner Licenses

So who is taking advantage of youth partner licenses this year? This is the last year that a friend's son can use youth partner licenses, so he will be obtaining them for the antlerless mule deer tag that I drew, and the antlered mule deer tag that his father drew. A couple of years ago the youth had partner licenses for my antlered mule deer, and his fathers antlerless mule deer, and we enjoyed watching him fill those tags more than we would have enjoyed filling them ourselves. This year I have had a trail cam out, and although the large bucks have been camera shy, there is a non typical hanging around that would make the youth hunter happy.

This is my daughter’s first eligible year to hunt big game and she partnered on my wife’s Mulie buck draw. She also got her Mulie doe draw and will have her WT tag too. Super stoked to get out with her as the shooter this year, she’s dialed in with my wife’s .270 shooting reduced recoil loads.....

Everything went according to plan, and the youth hunter has his antlered and antlerless deer by 7:20

The boy in the pic is my son. He's the reason I stepped down from being a mod. Too much time with us gang of crazies at his expense.

Elk has been a tremendous mentor to him, not just in all things hunting, but has turned him into a hardcore conservative and Trudeau hater. This is the third animal in a row that Elk has put down the triggersticks and called out ranges to my boy as he pulled the trigger. Nice to have hunting partners that treat your kid like Elk does mine.

Thanks for making this happen bud. Very much appreciated. By both of us.

Every year, the ACA brings their Mentorship Program kids out to my pasture to hunt mule does. Their smiles look like that!

Well done everyone!

Of my last four draw tags, youths or new hunters filled three using partner licenses. My pronghorn tag was also offered to a youth, but we couldn't make the schedule work. I had out four new pheasant hunters as well, this fall, and we hosted a couple of new goose hunters, and I enjoy being the audience, when a newer hunter or youth is doing the shooting. If our sport is to survive, we need to recruit new hunters and help to mentor them, so they are safe and successful.

Nice job to the hunter, and those that made it possible.

My daughter shot my P10 moose last year. We had a deal that if I couldn't stick an arrow in one, rifle season was all hers.

I drew a sheep tag about 8 years ago and saw several legal rams but none that I wanted to shoot. I still kick myself that I didn't take a youth out to shoot a ram.

My wife has lost interest in hunting, so she has agreed to let our twin girls use up her high priority draw tags next fall before they turn 18.

Elkhunter, I commend and respect what you've done for those young hunters.

Way to go Stinky C!

Man, last night I went in the garage and whacked off some backstraps and fried em up for supper with blue cheese crumbled on top. That's all we had. Meat. Absolutely delicious.

It was a strangely rewarding experience cooking up deer my son shot. The circle of life continues, and I love it.

Nothing beats mentoring the next generation and the memories and excitement in the field, congrats to the young man.

I haven't fired a shot at big game this fall, and even if I don't, seeing that buck drop dead made my season a success.

Now I have one more new hunter to try and get on a whitetail, as he has put in many hours with zero success on his own.

Ditto on seeing that buck drop dead. Same Son was eligible to hunt last year and dropped a nice little 4x4 whitetail last year for his first and my season was made. I never took a shot at anything although I went out a few times and passed some whitetails. This year I took a ewe but focus was on the partner youth tag for the muley. Might pass whitetail again this year but not sure. Going to tag along this weekend for another first timers hunt and lend some of the sweat and knife work when time comes. Love this stage of the game. These partner youth tags or getting anyone new into the game is such a treat. Nice to see all the successes this year.

When you associate with hunters, you avoid the PETA members, anti firearms crowd, and the Trudeau supporters.

question...can the kids partner on each others draw tags? youth on youth partner action? of course i'd be with them...but maybe i answer my own question in that can only partner on my draws? could be a silly question...
