Default Method(s) for fishing flowing water?

What is your preferred method for fishing flowing water. I understand that methods may change throughout the day as hatches occur, condition changes and type of fish being targeted. But say if you not seeing any hatches on the water, what method are you using to prospect water? Dry only, Dry Dropper, Streamers, indicator nymphing? For myself, if nothing is hatching, im playing the sub surface game.

Cheers,

This time of year is tough for sure, majors hatches have come and gone, fish have been pressured and water is lower. Obviously depending on what your fishing and where our fishing. For what and Where I fish, I start with a dry with a short drop, until things start coming off the water and fish activity increases.

Lots of casting less catching in August it seems.

I did well on hoppers on Monday, got some real big fish.Mostly little guys on the dropper.August is a great time to fish the rockpiles and buckets in the fast water with streamers.Hard to beat screaming rainbows in the hard water.
