Default Countdown begins....

Rooms are booked, gears getting stacked, flies are being tied......
May 15 to the 21 cann't come soon enough, the missouri river won't be the same after....

I hate this time of year, shoveling the snow off the roof, dreaming of that first fish sipping that first fly.....

love that river but I've never made it down for the famous mother's day caddis hatch. I'll be down on the Bighorn this March and can't wait to see how it compares to the Missouri.
Hope you have a great trip!

The Mo has been great when I've fished it, mostly early spring when I can get off work. It sort of ruined the Bow for me in some ways. The streamer bite has always been on when I've fished it. If you're into the numbers game, nymphing is ridiculously productive. Takes time to figure out where the fish are (not a lot of obvious structure) but once you do it's game on. Ray charles', soft hackle sow bugs, scuds etc. seem to always work if nothing else does. Great midge action and the occasional riser in early march even.
