Default Have you ever fished the arctic.

Have you ever fished in the NWT? What did you catch? What is on your bucket list? Post a picture I would love to see it.

Was there 2 years ago at this lodge.
http://www.frontierfishinglodge.com/...at-slave-lake/
Got lots of lakers and a bunch of grayling including one about 2 lbs. better than the Alberta record.
A good time. The trip was completely organized. Get to your flight outta Edmonton and the folks from the lodge capture you.

Good trip & experience.

I'd like to fly fish for some monster grayling.

I find fly in fishing trips so darn expensive.

I would want a fly in and take care of yourself and you meals.
I can cook just fine and enjoy it.

We open our lodge for July and August the fishing is great through the 2 months.

Season - Aylmer Lake Lodge has three distinct season variations within our fishing season. Trophy fish (Lake Trout, Arctic Grayling, Northern Pike and Lake a Whitefish) are caught during the entire summer, but each variation offers an edge to different types of fishing - pick the season variation that best matches the type of fishing that you want to do while fishing Aylmer Lake Lodge.

Early Season, June 28th - July 20 equals "Shallow Water fishing". Northern Pike During the early season, our Northern Pike fishing is at its best, the barren-land arctic is in it's spectacular fashion. Northern Pike fishing is never better. Lake Trout cruise the shallows and grayling come alive in the lake and rivers. If your primary objective is huge Trophy Pike or shallow water Trophy Lake Trout, an Early Season trip is definitely for you.

Mid Season, July 20 - August 15th - "Trophy Fever" If you're looking for the Trophy and the best overall fishing for all of Aylmer Lake Lodge fish, Mid Season is the choice for you. Long warm days and all species hungry and accessible to the angler.

Late Season, August 16th - 31st "This is Slab Heaven". Lake Trout Cooler days signal that Aylmer Lake and Clinton-Colden Lakes giant Trophy Lake Trout are on the move onto key reefs to spawn. Fish from all over Aylmer Lake and Clinton -Colden Lake, these big, beautiful fish pair up and migrate to the Shallow rock reefs to ensure that the survival of their superior genes. Fishing for Trophy Lake Trout is as good as it gets, anywhere, during Late Season on Aylmer Lake and Clinton-Colden Lake. A special bonus of a late season trip is that spectacular Northern Lights, Muskox in the rut and the start of the massive Caribou migration can be seen during late August at Aylmer Lake and Clinton-Colden Lake.

Jungle,

My experience is limited to one trip. We were there in early July.
From what I was told the west end of Great Slave Lake is more suited to pike fishing whereas the east end is more about lakers.
Frontier Lodge has a flowing river within 15 minutes walk of the camp where we fished for grayling. You will need waders.
The day was spent on the lake chasing lakers. The evening after supper on the river. We generally fished to about 11 pm. Still lots of light left but 6:00am comes early.

Regards,

Don
