You could set a geographic circle of say 200km and see who is around you.
The app your looking for is called Grinder

Turns out your right!

I put on there that I'm looking for a partner to get a big black bear at least 6 feet.

Not many guys in the grand prairie area though..

I've met some good folks on here but mostly thru bear bait bartering or sharing fishing hot spots via PM's.
Partners are tough. I have a few really good ones. I'm also investing a great deal into my young sons which I'm sure will be lifelong partners.

Yup, Slicktricker showed me some areas to explore when I first moved to Alberta. Was really appreciative of that.

Another poster (forget his user name haha) and I went duck hunting. Occasionally we get out and try after coyotes. I'm sure we will hit ducks come season!

I've tried hunting with some people I have met on the net but it seems like they just want to jump straight to the hunt. I figure people should at least meet first and figure out what the other person is about before diving into the camo.

I met my good hunting buddy on that thread. We always tell people at parties "well, we met online, so..." It's good for a chuckle. I'm crazy, he's nuts. It works out. Probably taken 10 whitetail together over the past 5 years? Mostly backpack hunts but some stand and truck hunts, too.

Still waiting to find one.
My criteria:
- Flexible with time (can hunt almost any day of the season)
- Mostly day trips will work (up to 2 hrs one way), not set up for camping
- Own ATV and mid size truck
- Any big game hunting will do

Looking for hunting partner who can make some contributions as well (like: new places to hunt with land permissions, special licences possibly, own a camper, have a place to process a game, etc.)

I'll hook you up. Not really looking for a long term partner but could find time for a fall fling. Discretion will be paramount.

I've never been hunting with anyone here. But I met kujoseto for coffee and he gave me some tips and pointers for elk hunting. We keep in touch since. I've also got some great advice from people like slicktricker. Lots of great people on this site that are always willing to help. I hope that when I have a few years of hunting under my belt that I can help others too.

i have taken a few new people out just to try and help them get their first animal / give some tips and it went good both times. didnt connect unfortunately but thats how it goes sometimes. dont keep contact but it was a good experience. I like helping out new people / mentoring them into a position where they can go out themselves confidently. Lots of people who want to hunt dont just because noone is around to show them the ropes since they dont come from a hunting family.

I met my hunting partner on that thread in 2010, hunting, fishing, and great friends out of the field ever since.
He wasn't available last November I had a week open I ended up messaging a guy on their and took him out and showed him a couple spots I liked and had a great time. He got back to me the following weekend to show me his area but unfortunately my schedule with two small kids was just too much. I felt bad, we hit it off and I just couldn't make it out before the season was over.
So that's two for two with positive experiences from the thread.
I personally am not a fan of hunting solo (and much respect to the guys that do!), but if your in a pinch there are some great people on this site.

Aw, shucks. We had a good time too! Which reminds me, my dog is all healed up now. We should plan another waterfowl trip for this fall.

I had a guy get in touch with me from that thread. It's been 3 or 4 years now, we text each other in October make some plans go hunting then don't really talk till next year. It's perfect. He's not wearing my skin as a hat so I guess the thread worked.
