I am going to take my older Remington 1100 semi auto apart for a good cleaning and thought I would ask for some advice here on a problem I have been having with it.
The action cycles fine in warm weather but when it gets cold (minus 2 the other weekend) it tends to stick open after firing and not chamber and close on the second shell. I shoot Federal Premium #2's and BB's. Before that problem happens I do notice that the action closes slowly when I am loading one in the chamber. I figure this is due to the cool weather.
I had the thing looked at a few years ago at Wolf's and he made some adjustment and it seemed to work fine, but I actually cant remember if I had it out in the cold after that.
Do I need to simply clean it thouroughly and give it a more liberal dose of gun oil? I have always applied the oil very sparingly, not wanting to gunk it up. I do take every piece apart and clean everything, and this gun has had maybe 20 boxes through it in its lifetime. Do I need better oil? I am using Outers.
Any ideas to try would be welcomed, as I am a newbie at this. Thanks in advance guys.

Been shooting 1100's since the 60's.
Clean the action and trigger group well with a de-greaser like brake clean, then dry and lightly oil with a light oil like "G96 complete gun."
The Gas chamber/piston needs to be clean and dry, NO OIL in here. degrease it and wipe it dry, DO NOT OIL. oil will collect crap and gum it up.
Run a pipe cleaner in the gas port in the barrel.
