Default Custom work

How hard is it to switch a tikka t3 7mm rem mag to a 270 wby? Just a barrel and head spacing i think am i wrong?

not very familiar wth those calibres , but yeah their both long action cartridges i think. new barrell and chamber job.

not sure if you would need to get the bolt re worked/trued. might as well since its there.

The case head varies only 0.0005 between the two and the max overall length varies only 0.005....based on the manual I have. So it is likely doable but I ain't no gunsmith

You can rebarrel it and chamber it for a .270 WBY. The chamber and barrel are one piece, therefore the headspace will be determined and machined accordingly by the gunsmith.

I did the same thing only with a remington. Was no problem.

A Tikka will not require trueing up that's for sure. They're built straight at the factory, unlike a 700.

A simple rebarrel and you're in business, although you won't see any difference in field performace between the two cartridges. The Weatherby will be a bit faster bullet weights being equal. But, that's not why we rebarrel rifles is it?

Im building it as my best friend and long time hunting partner wanted one for years and his father has passed away so its getting turned into his dream gun at gun worx as soon as i can get ahold of them
