Default Ice fishing newbies

Hi y’all,
My son wants to try ice fishing this year, and I haven’t fished through the ice in years, and never in Alberta. I’d appreciate any info regarding central Alberta lakes. Also, is anyone out yet? Or is there still not enough ice?
Thanks.

Buffalo usually has good action, can keep one pike each. Sylvan and gull have no pike limits, but do have some walleye and whites to catch. Depending and what your looking for? They both have perch as well if you can find them, sometimes small perch are fun to catch with the kids
