This is a fun challenge that's fitting for the word "tack drive"

Now lets hope it stops people calling all these 1+MOA guns tack drivers.

I feel I'm in need of both tacks, and tack driver but will always try.

Default Tremor

I have adjusted my scope to shoot dead-on and I will give this a try even though my tremor is equivalent to the size of the tack!

With 1/4 MOA adjustments it can be tough to get an exact zero ... I fired 4 shots to adjust to zero before starting on the tacks and could not get it perfectly centered, so needed some texas windage.

Came quite close today. Im on vancouver island at the moment which means lots of trees to block the wind. Had a slight right to left breeze today but i figured i would try anyways. First group was 2 out of three one of which barely grazed the botom of the tack. Second group like an idiot i realized i had forgotten extra tacks so i improvised with colored tacks from the target board. First shot on the second group was perfect! Drove it right through the board. Sadly after the first shot the wind came up and by the time it came down i had the sun right in my scope so second 2 were misses.
Rifle i was shooting was my new 20practical with a JURY barrel on a savage model 12 action pushing 40gr vmax.

Decided to try the challenge just to see what happens . Rifle is zeroed at 225 yds making it about 1 1/2 " hi at 100 yds . I held low about that much and took 3 shots . Left to right was shot sequence , about an inch hi , creased it , a quarter inch right . I'm pretty happy with the results as I don't use a rear bag and tack is covered by the crosshairs at 9x. Time to reload more shells and try again tomorow.

H380 your 9X will be fine ... just use some bigger circles with the tacks dead center. Texas windage is tough on tack sized targets if more than 1/2" is required. May the wind be your friend tomorrow!

Beauty! Great shooting for .22LR... 75 yds is more than enough to declare tack driver status for rim fire.

Normally I wouldn't but the stock on this feels way to flimsy and the length of pull doesn't quite fit me

Not giving up, will use the same rifle with a 60 g projectile, I have several rifles that could make the cut.

Must reload now.

Three shots only per target panel.
A strategy for shooters with lower power scopes would be to place tack dead center in a larger target circle.
Here is an example of a "before" target panel.
Any takers?

This three tack game is fun.

I hope to have devastating impact on my next post.

Me too, but sometimes how I actually shoot is not consistent with how I'd like to shoot. Maybe because I don't sleep well when I hear wind!

Wind.

Blow it away I subscribe to the clock wise movement.

But I do bring all my lucky charms.

i tried again today and after trying 8 times i have come to the conclusion that the load that im shooting now wont quite cut it for this challenge. when i get back to alberta from my vacation i will give the 222 a try while i come up with a better load for the 20 cal.

To do this with a 20 cal is no small feat. You and your rifle would need to shoot consistent .3" or better groups. Where as with a 30 cal if you could shoot around .5" you could probably make this challenge.

yeah i knew it wouldn't be easy but i know this gun can do it i just don't have an accurate enough load. i loaded this ammo mainly for plinking with friends while im in bc. when i get back to alberta i have some 40gr bergers and 39gr blitzkings that will hopefully bring groups in tighter.
