You cant beat catching a rainbow on a fly.........its what I like the best !

Right on Bobby, it's just about hopper season. The dry fly fishing for rainbows will give your arms a run for their money!

Thanks for the comments.

After catching the one in the photo, I hooked onto a big rainbow. It was like pulling on a log. I brought him to the surface a few times but lost him at the net. Super Dave and I estimated the lost trout at 25" and 6 lbs. He still feels bad about it because he believes he was responsible for losing it since he was manning the net. I told him to put it in the past, there'll be more lunkers for us in the future.

BTW, we were fishing at Muir, a pretty spot but mostly very shallow.

Hey I got my first trout on the fly yesterday as well ! not as big as yours but the experience was great ! Caught 8 or 9 cutts and 2 brookie all pretty tiny...

im purchasing fly gear this year and hopefully i catch a beauty off a rainbow like you did as i will be a newbie to the fly too..... nice rainbow............later
