First, glad you are on the mend Keg, say what you will about the deterioration of our health care system...when it is a true emergency they step up.
Second...Ken. You and I have had some disagreements here, but what you have done here any of that seem petty. You stepped up in a way few would...you will always rate highly in my mind.

Glad to hear you're home. This is a wonderful feel good story. Something you don't hear about in the mainstream news.

Rest and relax, get your strength back!

Keg, glad you are on the mend.

Ken, what you did was so far above and beyond that you'd need an altimeter to rate how classy a move that was.

That was the best breakfast I've had this year. First time I was ever asked to leave because I was having too much fun. LOL

Yeah, great group, like my neighbors only a bit further down the road.

I'm glad to hear you're back home safe and sound and on the mend!

My good friend and hunting partner went through the same thing last spring and it scared the heck out of me. I'm not ready to lose a good friend who's only in his mid-60's.

Take care of yourself and do what the Dr tells you to do.

Ken, nicely done........my hat's off to you!

Incidents like this are ones first warning that some never get, get well soon.

Guys like Ken are one-in-million, do not know him, have never met him but would like to meet him one of these days...….

This summer the subject of who we have met came up so I sat down to make a list of all AO members I have met.
I had a pretty long list going and thought I had most on it but all most every day I remember yet another I had missed.

As I was adding names I thought back to each encounter and it occurred to me that I have yet to meet even one AO member I did not like.

I vividly recall the night I went fishing in the dark with Wayne and Sherry. I wish I could do that every night. It was magical.

The weekend the young AO member from Peace River helped me with a gun show is a favorite memory too.

Meeting Cat for the first time was simply awesome. I saw him coming down the row of displays and knew exactly who he was long before he reached out to shake my hand.

The man is 100 percent authentic, 100 percent a gentleman, 100 percent a sportsman. And a perfect balance between old school and modern tech.

Dinner with skidderman was like spending time with one of my brothers. I knew Ken was special the moment we met those many years ago.

Breakfast with TC was a treat, huntin has been my friend since before he and I joined AO.
Cowmanbob has been a great friend and cool boss. Dean and Andrew went above and beyond for me.

And then there is the many I don't recall names or handles for. The couple from Camrose who come up hunting every year now. Thank you so much for the Venison! The two airline pilots who came up elk hunting, the young man who got stuck out west of Dixonville. Each a cherished memory.

And of course there are the guys I worked with when I was a moderator, Rob, Graham, sundance, Kanon ABB and the guys are a cut above.

I really believe that over 99 percent of AO members are top shelf. It's only the few who make it seem at times to be a less then friendly site.

I'd even go so far as to say that even my old nemesis, Chris, is probably not such a bad guy. If we were to ever meet in person I suspect I would like him too. For sure I don't appreciate some of the things he does, but that is not likely who he is inside, and what is inside to me counts more then a bad habit or socially inappropriate behavior.

I'm far from prefect, I don't expect perfection in my friends. AO is a collection of real people, not a saints convention.
Saints make me uncomfortable, they make my flaws stand out.

DAYUM...….that is profound Keg. a statement of reflection.....couldn't agree more with you on this, even though I have yet to meet an AO member...!

Very well stated and written Keg. I'm hoping I can meet you one of these days as well. I don't get back to my hometown of Peace River often, but am tentatively planning a trip there next year as well as to the Fort Vermillion area where I have a number of relatives from my Dad's Mennonite side. I'll stop by for a coffee!

Admit I did not worry about you a bit

Takes a lot more than an artery to take you out

I believe you met a cardiologist that, well, I am familiar with?? 😉

You are always welcome to stop by for a coffee, or a bed for the night if needed. We have a guest room set aside for weary travelers.

One never knows, but it could be that I may know some of your relatives. I have a few friends in the Le Crete area.
I count the Martin brothers as friends, we go back a ways. And I know Jake Harding and the other guys on the ferry, we were co-workers.
I've known a few of the Gieisbright's for years, and a couple of others whose names escape me at the moment.

I also have a few friends around High Level and Rocky Lane. Lots of others I know to see but don't have a name for.

Some times it can be astonishing how far out ones friends circle can extend at times.

A few years back a cute little blond came to work on our crew. We got along fine and soon became friends. One day she mentioned that she was going to visit an aunt in Wetaskiwin. I haven't seen my aunt Lori in years she said.
I told her I knew a lady in Wetaskiwin by the name of Lori.

What's you friends last name she says, Lori P--- I replied. You know my aunt she exclaimed! Well yes, she is my first wife's cousin I said. Seems we are related!

It's a small world out there.

I may well have, but there were so many. I met a Dr. Lamb, and several others I can't recall the names of. All great folks. Put me at easy right at the start.

The whole experience was amazing. I felt like I was being cared for by family.
One nurse, Kelsey I believe, even gave me a big hug when she learned that I was about to be discharged. We both got a bit misty eyed.

From the staff in the Manning hospital, to the pilots who flew me down, to the nurses and even the janitors, ever last one treated me like family.

And there were people from all over the world, my ultrasound was done by a grandmother from Brazil, one nurse was from Ethiopia, another from the Philippians. One was from Quill Lake Saskatchewan, another was born and raised just a few blocks from the Hospital she now works in.

My primary cardiologist was a Canadian born in India. Wonderful man with a great sense of humor.
This was such a team effort. I had not one doctor but several all working as one. And nurses, one for every two rooms, plus those assisting doctors and doing other tasks.

It breaks my heart to know that some of those folks face pay cuts and even layoffs. We can do with a few less politicians, I can not live with less health care professionals.

I say, lay off half the politicians, cut the rest to half their pay and keep ever single nurse, doctor, janitor and receptionist in every hospital in the country. We might even be able to give them all a pay raise if we cut a few politicians down to what they are worth to us.

May everyone in the health care professions be richly blessed through this season of giving. You give so much to us, it is only fair you get some back.

It's great to hear the got you fixed up and you are back home. The people on here, many of whom we have never met, in one strange way become not only familiar, but they become friends.

Over the years I've met, and hunted and fished with many people who I met through here - and I agree - all good people.

All the best as you mend and rest - and back to the dirty tricks after you are up and around !!!!

Glad to hear you are back home. Follow doctor's orders and don't overdo it. Or else Ken will have to come have a heart to heart with you.

Keg, Very happy to hear you are back at home new and improved. And I am really happy that you knew to get checked out.

Although we have never met, I know we have much in common, and now we are stent brothers too. Like mentioned listen to the doctors and most of all get back to enjoying life.

Although I don't remember how I found the AO forums I know we have an exceptional group of outdoorsmen and outdoorswomen that truly do care for each other.

And to Ken, I praise you for all you do and the support you give to many. Thank you for you.

I agree with u and Keg. The issue in healthcare isn't the nurses and doctors it is all the other. There are 140,000 people employed by Alberta Health. That is almost 10% of the adult Alta population. Last time I did some work on this only 1 in 7 of those people ever gets anywhere near a patient. Alberta spends 30% more than the Country of New Zealand and gets far worse results and NZ actually has a couple million more people.
