Default Wouldn't this make a nice mount?

This giant elk skull was found by fishermen in Sept of this year in Ireland. Wish we had elk like this in Alberta nowadays... just to see them let alone hunt them. Would make one heck of a mount.

Sort of makes me wonder about how many skulls would be on the bottom of some of our bigger rivers and even some lakes. They would be well preserved in water. I know there were places the buffalo crossed the rivers and they did drown. A person can find the odd buffalo skulls in the rivers if they look downstream of the ford areas.

They’re fantastic aren’t they? I’ve seen a few in England in various historical places, man how I’d love to hunt something like that with a Longbow.

Ken Walker mounted a life size recreation for a museum. It was featured in breakthrough magazine. Google “Ken Walker Irish elk”

Default Muckross house

Did a tour of Muckross house in Ireland and they had a beautiful Irish elk head like that, the wife and I walked in and were awe struck for sure.

The old museum here in Edmonton had an Irish Elk rack on display in their dinosaur display. It was awesome to look at, perhaps 10' wide! I don't know if it was moved to the new downtown location but, if it is there it's worth the price of admission to see it.
