Default Covid stupidity again. Will it ever end

https://apple.news/AefrYOGP8QN6Aj_C1Ju3K0g
Whoever runs these companies should be in prison and if you are stupid enough to go on a cruise you should sign a waiver that says you have zero hospital care for your dumb ass. Idiots. Expedition cruise but still has guests. Anyone else sick of this stuff. I need a snickers bar.

People are flying in and out of Canada as they please, from all over the world. Without any control measures in place, they are on the street within hours of arrival. Who is there to prevent them from doing so?

Cruise ship seems miniscule, and at least they aborted operation after confirming positive cases.

Really without any control? Just got back from Iowa, health check before boarding, US Customs making sure you have a valid reason to get on flight to Canada. Arrive to Canada ,health check before customs, customs ask you all sorta of information, after customs health check again, also have to provide detailed on how and where your quarantining, and how you are getting to the location your quarantining. Then you get frequent phone calls from both ahs and the feds about your quarantine. But yea there not doing anything.

Interesting, maybe you are unique and all the other travellers into Canada get to come and go as they please. The post above yours is pretty clear there are no control measures.

Ahs will keep you on the phone for 14 days? Why isn't testing mandatory upon arrival? Not every carrier has symptoms. Please.

Read the following ..... Thirty-six crew and four guests on a Norwegian cruise ship have tested positive for Covid-19, the cruise company says. All 158 crew members from the MS Roald Amundsen have been tested after four staff became ill and were found to have the disease on Friday, according to a statement released Saturday by Hurtigruten, the owner of the ship.

Bet this won't stop the ships leaving Fort Lauderdale in October.

And the police drive by three times a day. It’s insane.

I’m not kidding. I have friends that traveled to the states so that she could see her mother who is dying of cancer. They came back. They have four children under the age of 11, somebody called their house every day for all six of them (so six different calls a day, how asinine) and the police drove by their house every day. Multiple times a day. They know this because they were home with nothing to do.

Get your point. I just think it’s ridiculous to even try a stunt like that. You’re right about Fort Lauderdale. Cruise ships are itching to get going again and guaranteed it will spawn more and more outbreaks. I wouldn’t go on one of those ships even if it was free. That’s just me.

What people dont realise is that tons of people are except from the self isolation. Example after the hail storm in Calgary they brought in all these insurance adjusters from the States. They and millions of others have been left into the country since covid with no isolation.

I live on a farm, wouldn't drag my phone around with me all day, either. Something we should defund the police from.

Not unique at all, a friend just returned from USA and is under mandatory quarantine for 14 days told me he got 12 calls in 3 days and he was told at the border if he broke quarantine he could face a one million dollar fine and or 3 years in prison.

I think Cruising is Done, for a long time at least. They're a floating Petri dish and regularly have outbreaks of some kind.

So I was bored and looked at the stats in hard hit Florida. With a population of roughly 21 million people, they have right around 487,000 cases, and roughly 7200 deaths. To put this in perspective if Alberta was to have a similar outbreak we'd have roughly 90,000 people infected and 1300 deaths. Yes, thats sad, but is it worth ruining hundreds of thousands of lives due to the economic devastation? I'm not so sure...

Just guessing here, but I think most people can recover financially but I dont think anyone will recover from death.

But it appears some/many on here think its the other way around.

Things are opening up, which is good too.
And things would go better if people masked up(indoors), kept their distance and washed their hands. Why cant people see that and at least humor the masking?

I dont know 1 person that wants this and that isnt tired of it. People want it over with but it should not be at the expense of someones life. Dont know many people that want to die or loved ones to die.

Losing faith in Canadians and especially fellow Albertans. Its really kind of disappointing.

No one, wants anyone to die. In fact I'm trying to save lives by advocating to open it up if the Florida and Texas numbers hold. How many are dying because their procedure has been put off, or they can't get an appointment? How many are dying due to suicide, or turning to drugs? How many families ripped apart due to the lack of financial resources. How many have given up hope?

The fact is the death rate in Florida is .03 percent of the total population, much lower then predicted. The hospitalizations have also been kept in check with only .11 percent of the total population being hospitalized. Its safe to say that Covid-19 has run its course in Florida as cases are dropping daily. So what this shows us is that the majority of people we're most likely exposed, and their immune system beat the disease before they got sick!

Protect the elderly, and don't allow anyone sick to go into old folks homes. Also protect those with pre-existing conditions. Let everyone else go back to normal and see what happens. I think its safe to say that not much will change, as from my observance many people are not social distancing, and many are refusing to wear masks or wearing them improperly anyways. If we were going to have major issues here we would have saw them back in June when stage 2 opened IMO.

Personally know 16 people in North America who have had Covid19 and recovered no death no long term damage no hospitalization.

Covid19 can be lethal but to most it is not. Those 16 had varied experience from sniffles to what they referred to as the worst chest infection they ever had.

Covid19 is not a death sentence and vast majority of cases don’t even involve hospitalization

I too have lost faith in Canadians do to the fear mongering and overreaction I have seen combined with the attitude. Common sense and respect are clearly a thing of the past

Wash your hands, don’t lick door knobs or strangers and stay safe. If you wish to hide in a bubble giver but drop the guilt trip and over exaggerating Covid19’s lethality
