Default Little Help Please

Just picked up the new Marlin 444 and now I would like to dress her up with a piece of glass
Thoughts on the Nikon 1.65x5x32 good and bad.
I have Leupolds on all my bolt actions but not looking to break the bank on the glass
Thanks
Gramps

Hey Gramps,

I was looking in the Cabela's catalog the other day and they have some "Cabelas" brand scopes set up for these rifles. They give you a crosshair at 100 / 200 / 300 yards but you have to use the Lever Evolution ammo from what I got out of it (must be a little hotter????)....price was only $100. Might be kinda interesting to turn that 444 into a 300yd rifle

They are a 3-9x so your really low end isn't there though.

Just some food for thought for ya

I've never used the particular Nikon you are talking about I've liked the ones I've tryed so I would say it will probably do the trick. I've got a 2-7 bushnell 3200 that has been a good scope for the money. Maby not as bright glass as some of the nikons but very tough. I have put it through hell and its taken some nasty bangs and never needed to be re-sighted.

Default glass

you have leupold on all your other guns, obviously for a reason.
why fix what ain't broke. it's always cheaper to do it right the first time.
vxIII - 1.5x5, straight tube, lots of field of view, lots of scope for the caliber.
bolt her on and go kill stuff, lee.

I agree with duceman, Leupold also has the VXII 1-4x20 which shouldn't break the bank. On the lever guns, I prefer the smaller tube 20mm. It seems to fit better. There is the gunshow coming up on the 16th, who knows you might be able to find a good used one there. There are limitations as to who makes them, I know Leupold, Burris and maybe even look for an older B&L. The B&L Balvar is on my .444
