Robinson Arms XCR
I noticed wolverine supplies and a few other shops have this gun listed as non restricted. I'm interested in getting one to take care of the yotes in my area and was wondering if anyone had any experience with them? I'm thinking either 6.8 spec or 223.

? I would double check to make sure its non restricted. Seeing as how it was developed for the US military SCAR competition for a replacement of the M4. It would be a plesent suprise if it was non restricted!

They are non-restricted. I had one, and shot it a little with open sights only. The new owner reported back to me he was very pleased with it's performance when scoped. I think he was getting MOA or better, but no longer have his PM to refer to. The plus with them is the calibre conversion kits, and the boys at Alberta Tactical Rifle have devised match barrels for them if a fellow wants to go that route.
Wolverine is the Canadian importer for the XCR, any other shop in Canada with them got them from Wolverine.

I got mine from Wolverine. 100% non-restricted, use it on gophers, coyotes, paper. I shot a 3 gun match with mine this year, haven't killed anything with it yet but that may change this winter. If I were you I'd stay away from the 6.8 SPC and go with the .223 for the simple fact that the 6.8 ammo will be hard to come by and you can pick up .223 ammo pretty much anywhere. Also because it is a black rifle I always make sure I've got a copy of the registration to prove to anyone that it is a non-restricted rifle.

The XCR, HKSL8 and Swiss Arms are the best "black" none restricted rifles out there. All military desgins adapted for civi use.

that is awesome! To bad they wouldn't do the same thing with the AR series! Kinda shows what a joke the canadian gun laws really are!

The .223 is great for ammo selection for varminting, the 7.62 x 39 is great for being able to use uber-cheap surplus ammo through, and the 6.8 SPC option is appealing because you could hunt big game with it, its a .270 projectile
Here's the one I used to have:

The XCR is nonrestricted.
I have buddies with them, one in 223 and the other in 6.8 and both like the rifle and report good accuracy and reliability.
They come from factory with match barrels and are very nice rifles although a little pricey.
Nice thing about the 223 package is that it uses AR mags. The 6.8 uses the same mags but with a different follower, I'm not sure about the 7.62x39 mags but I don't see the point in spending that much on a rifle and then shooting 7.62x39, even though it's cheap I don't think I want to shoot corrosive surplus through a $2400 gas operated rifle.
I will be picking one up in 6.8 one of these days.
The only problem with them is that they are always sold out.
Badger supplies in BC and Frontier in Sask say they have them in stock on their website but that could change at any time. P&D in Edmonton is the only other place I know of that carry them other than ordering straight from Wolvering which is the Canadian distributor.

The Shooting Edge in Calgary also carries them, if they have any in stock.

I find it hard to believe 2010 was 4 years ago sometimes myself… Nothing like resurrecting an Old thread though
I believe Rob Arms put the Kibosh on ATRS's match barrel, patten/copy write law. To bad as I would have bought a few barrels and a few more XCR's Im sure many others would have as well.

An xcr is on my short list. Unfortunately my short list is pretty long.
