Good Sako A7 & scope deal??

Hey fellas,

I'm looking for my first hunting rifle, and am thinking of this rifle/scope package for $1250.

The rifle alone is listed as $1180 at WSS (Cabelas doesn't have the rifle alone listed on their website that I could see). That leaves ~$70 ($1250-1180) for the value of the scope. However, I don't know much about the scope involved (3-9x40mm Burris E1) and can't tell whether the package is a deal or a steal.

Do you think it is a reasonable price for the rifle & scope together?

Enough to get you hunting but you will probably want to upgrade the scope in a year or two. If money isnt an object buy the rifle (I have one in 30-06) and save a few more dollars to put into a VX2 and you will have a package deal that will last for your hunting life. Not that you will stop at only one rifle and scope anyway.

Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like rifle/scope packages operate the same way as camera/lens packages.

Back at end of June I picked up a SS model in 270wsm with Burris scope and rings and bore sighted for my nephew at WSS for $1229 with gts included. They had a sale on plus they had the 270wsm or. 7mm-08 in stock at the time over P&D. P&D has them for $1275

That scope is better than what you will find in most packages, but would likely end up upgrading before long. Definitely a good deal to get you started

I think that it's a good deal and that the scope will serve you well for a long time.

I bought that package in 7-08 on Boxing day last year. That scope is better than most would think. I think you will be pleasantly pleased with it.

I have the package in 7mm-08 also and I haven't chAnged the scope yet. Great value.
