Default need help walking 1000 yards

not posting this on the gun section as it involves getting from the bench to the 800 yard or more target and back

I am unable to walk fast anymore and yet do not want to inconvenience those other shooters at the firing line

a pedal bike does not work in the rain or mud as well

so a trail mini bike like the old ones in the nineties or so a Honda ???

suggestions as I have a pickup for the bike or whatever
any suggestions?

Cement Bench, limping all the way a new Xmas song.

I'd be sold on this 90cc Honda for such tasks.

What about those electric or gas pedal bikes? They don’t look that heavy but never tried one before. Probably cheaper to just buy a light dirt bike.

I had a dirt bike and used it for checking targets.
Didn’t get the heart rate up.

Cheap garden mower? Remove the deck and use it. Lots of used ones for sale.

Maybe the range would give you a suggestion as to what they would allow to be used.

How about a Honda trike 110 or 250. Not as big as a quad and lighter

I assume if you're alone there's no problem.

If other shooter's are there, you could
(1) ask another shooter to take a picture with a camera or cell phone
(2) ask another shooter to take your target down and put another up
after marking them with a distinctive mark i.e. a filled in red triangle
(3) Put up multiple targets and use (a) a high power spotting scope or (b) a drone with a camera which would limit your down range trips

I'd help if I was there.

I have used a cheap Canadian Tire Baja with a Honda engine for this purpose. Worked well for me, just like the old mini bikes with fat tires.

what about a drone to drop a target for you? You could even use it to 'zoom in'.

They are indeed useful.

Most businesses refer to those as Interns.

Cheapest option might be to get a small trailer for your quad. Way easier to load the quad onto a trailer than into the truck box.

Yamaha TW200 would be a nice bike. Low seating position. Easy to ride.

https://www.ridetwowheels.com/off-ro...tric-scooters/

see quiet cat

This is light enough to lift in and out of your SUV and can go 50 miles on one charge and would be perfect for this task.

https://ebicyclemall.com/products/qu...electric-trike

If you do enough shooting, fishing and are having trouble walking, yeah I know it's not cheap, but there isn't very much out there that's this light and this versatile and maintenance free.

thanks keep the thoughts coming, it will be for painting steel and changing paper targets, thanks guys

trying to keep it under 1500 bucks, and legit it by hand onto a truck hitch or into back of pickup if possible

Used electric golf cart. No engine to start, just push pedal and go. Quiet, room for passenger, tools, stapler, targets, hammer, etc.

I've ridden two different models of e-bikes and they are awesome. They would be perfect due to their light weight to throw in the bed of a pickup and make getting too the 1000 yard mark a lot of fun. I have a trail system in the area that I live and the amount of older people getting back into riding by using these things is amazing.

Why not just set up a "go pro" or similar camera facing your targets and monitored by your computer back at the line. Set up several targets and shoot all day. Just two trips - one out and one back when you are finished.

My interest in A&D magnetic force restoration scales, and this current thread,
http://www.outdoorsmenforum.ca/showt...96#post4058496
lead me to
https://www.autotrickler.com/autotrickler.html
and lots of other interesting reading material from Adam MacDonald.
He seems to be smart and motivated and has developed some VERY interesting products
https://www.autotrickler.com/shotmarker.html
https://www.autotrickler.com/twoboxchrono.html

The ShotMarker system may be of assistance or interest.

I like to do Audette ladder testing at extended range, and need to identify POI of individual shots, and reduce need for trips to the target.
(I prefer to complete ladders within consistent atmospheric conditions, and uninterrupted by trips to the target. I most often have several tall targets set up to perform several tests of several rifles.)

My inexpensive solution is a simple GoPro type camera on a tripod set up to monitor multiple targets.
I set it to take photos @ 1 min intervals, (IIRC it will take ~150 photos in 2.5 hours)
My old Go Pro does not have wireless, and I do not use a computer at the range.
When home, I page through the photos and identify, measure and log the POIs on the target and in my load development spreadsheet with all the other data of that individual shot..
I can use the spreadsheet to graph individual load variables and results, (which most often indicate nodes)
This system provides good data, but no ‘instant gratification’.

Good Luck, YMMV.

I would stick with the quad! Just get a trailer with a loading ramp to haul it in. Plenty of used trailers on kijiji

Maybe just bring $10 with you every time and just pay one of the guys there to do it. That way your not just asking for a hand out?

That is what grandkids are for. Don't have one, borrow one.

Kids love to feel needed. And it's good for their development. You'd be doing the kid a big favour.

That's what I tell my grandkids. Works for me.
