Default Ribbon found

First trip to our cabin area since Nov, seen this ribbon a few hun yds into the crown from our land.
Anyone know if this is from a trapper or maybe a F&W activity?
It is a known wolf area. No bait or anything is obvious.

Potentially a pine beetle crew snooping around.

Possible mountain pine beetle infestation.
Same tape is used in an image in this article:

Was there any indication of samples taken from surrounding trees?

Thanks, ya, same ribbon for sure.
Just its a poplar forest, very few spruce and pine.
Feb weather should have taken care of those buggers.

Tbark, that is the same ribbon the pine beetle survey crews use on our trap line. However normally in solid pine forest, never seen the ribbon in mixed wood area.
