Interesting Hunting Trip Today
I took the dog out to Daysland to find some pheasant, and while I put my boots on , and got ready, I heard several shots. Then a few minutes from the truck, I met an individual and remarked that there must be plenty of birds. His response was that there were no birds here. I asked if he heard the shots, and he replied that he was shooting at the abandoned vehicles in the bush for practice. I don't see how shooting an abandoned vehicle is good practice for wingshooting, but different people have different ideas. I headed off and a couple of minutes later, a couple of flocks of sandhill cranes flew over about 100 yards up. I watched them fly by, and then shots rang out, and when the next flock was at about the same location, more shots rang out. I looked over, and sure enough, the person that had been shooting at the vehicles, was now shooting at the sandhill cranes, even though they were well out of range. Before anyone asks if I reported this, judging by his appearance, the individual doing the shooting, likely doesn't have to obey the hunting regulations. I carried on, we took our limit of birds, even though there supposedly were none, and we went home.
