Default Elk or moose Decoys???

Hi Everyone!

Working on my first archery elk this year. Does anyone have any success stories, reviews, recommendations or complaints regarding decoys for either elk or moose???
Decoys such as:

https://ultimatepredatorgear.com/elk-stalker-decoy/

or

https://www.cabelas.ca/product/56584...hler-elk-decoy

Thanks, Jay

Default Black Sheet

I can’t comment on the decoys in the links you provided but have a simple
option that works good for moose hunting.

A couple years ago we started using a black sheet and have had great success doing this. Just drape it over some willows or an overhanging branch when calling. Once they are we it they come in like they are on a string!!

Simple and easy to cart around.

My black blanket at 50 yds
Does it work? Sadly, all witnesses to its effectiveness, have passed away.

That's what I used for my first decoy was just a piece of that black yard material

Regarding decoys, if it lets light through when held up to the sun, I steer clear of them.

Totally !
Anything that adds a bit of confidence to a calling set-up works wonders. Moose, Elk and Deer all respond very well.
That idea you have of a black sheet or blanket would sure save a lot of the inconvenience involved with packing a Moose decoy around.
My group of four Montana WT decoys (3 Does, 1 Buck ) is pure magic when it comes to drawing Bucks out.

Hunter Safety has to be a major consideration when using any type of Decoy.
Other Hunters are the biggest threat. Be Careful.

I have a predator decoy and was walking up a road with it yesterday. A legal Elk walked out at 100 yards and looked at me. I quickly brought up my bow to cover my body and I scooted off the road and tried to call him in to me. Didn't care about cow calls but he looked at that decoy with human legs a backpack and boots and still took him 5 minutes to amble back the way he came. Decoy for the win (ish)
