Default Gopro underwater

Ive heard that you can send a gopro under the ice and if you wrap a certain gauge wire around the housing you can still transmit the Wifi to your phone at the surface. Has anyone tried this or could help me figure out what wire would be the best to start with. Thanks

Never tried but hear that a strand of telephone wire does the trick.
