We went out this morning. The lake was busy at the town site access. Fishing was slow so I moved around quite a bit. Ice ranged from 15" total (10" good ice/5" white) to 11" ( 8" good/3" white) further out. Lots of guys driving on, we chose to walk.

Saw about 1 fish an hour. They would come right up to our lure, sniff the bait and swim off uninterested. Put every presentation we had down the hole but the walleye wouldn't bite. Caught one hammer handle pike to save us from being skunked.

I was out at Wizard at the end of December after Christmas and there was 12" of ice then. Fishing was slow, caught 6 or 7 pike between the 4 of us in about 6 hours.

Excellent...should be great for driving on. Not this coming weekend, but maybe the 27th, I'll finally have a chance to get out there.

Default Battle Lake

Looking for any recent ice reports for Battle Lake? Looking to head there this weekend and hoping to be able to drive the half ton out, also I’m aware that there’s multiple springs on the north and south sides is it even recommended to be driving a truck on that lake?

Be careful south of the campground along the east side where the birches are. That's a bad one. Battle lake I'm referring to.

Default Long lake. Boyle area

Spent the day today. Very cold up there. Driving on the lake and was 14 inches of ice. Really not that much snow on top. Maybe 5 inches. Some flood water near the 2 playgrounds but easy to go around. Fishing was real bad. Maybe that’s why no one was there. Lol

Any ice updates on Rattlesnake? Wondering if it is reasonably safe to drive on yet? Thank you!

Anyone venture into Blackett Kinnaird lakes from the south end. Trail condition/depth and snow depth on both would be appreciated.

Mcgregor measured 14/15” on Jan 16th.
Nobody driving on yet.
Some huge cracks and heaves out from the main point across from the boat ramp. I walked out there, not confident to drive on it.
2 fish all day. Not good.

Was at Carolside Dam (Berry Creek Reservoir) last weekend. There was pretty close to 24" of ice. Several vehicles on the ice.

Newell was 14 in reddleback bay good black ice last Saturday, almost needed a diaper though with all the cracking and heaving going on. Be careful of the big heave going out from the campground, saw the lake pushing up ice and water spraying in the air from a fair distance away, sounded like a thunderstorm.

Heard Payne is safe, the lakes in question should be as well. Last few days have been cold in that area.

Default Newell

Hi all
Any current reports on Newell? Are people driving on? How thick is the ice? How’s the fishing going? I have a couple Walleye tags that need to be filled. Any info would be appreciated.
Thx.

Default Battle Lake

12-14 inches of black ice with 3 inches on top on the northeast side of Battle Lake, fished throughout 6-21 feet and only saw pike, caught a few hammer handle pike.

Lol, diapers. That and a AED Defibrillator to restart the heart. I had one last week start near me, go right under me, and I could hear it continue at Mach 6 to the far end of the lake, say 3 km.
Without much snow the lakes seem to heat up more, and then crack, maybe? Can’t say I’ve seen a geyser, that would be a sight to see..... from a safe distance.
I took a friend and his GF out one day and she was freaked out the entire time. Sure enough a big azz crack goes right near us and she just about went through the top of my tent. Her scream made her sound like she was being stabbed to death.
Man it was hard not to laugh. To her credit, she regained composure and fished on.

Gull lake, North side, I was finding around 13 inches average. Not great ice either. The auger went through it quick. I'm finding the water clear though this year. That has been a long time since I've seen clear water there. Fishing in 7 FOW.

Sylvan, found 13-17 inches of good hard ice.
