thinking it must be. when he talks about hunting he mentions

the season & what is open to shoot. don't think he would advertise if wasn't

legal. I wonder where he picks up his

license out there? lol

Some if not all states were legal, not sure anymore. There is a paper trail to owning a legal suppressor where allowed.

What benefits would that have in a hunting situation I'm guessing it just looks cool for TV

He uses it to protect his hearing, as he stated on an episode.

In a situation where more than one animal is to be harvested, a suppressor could be quite useful.

Or in close proximity to houses.

Obviously not the case in the show..

I'd love to be able to use them simply for the hearing protection, plus they reduce recoil too. Can't see a good reason not to if its an option.

Benefits:
1) hearing protection
2) not disturbing your farming hosts (assuming you hunt in farm country)
3) animals often don't recognize where the shot come from
4) animals don't bolt as decidedly when shot as when they here the boom of an unsuppressed shot. Death run is often shorter.

Negatives:
1) cost
2) added weight and length

I used one on my PH's rifle in South Africa. Quite amazing the reduced sound signature. The above benefits were noted personally.

Benefits 1 and 2 should be enough that they be legalized for hunting.

If u could hunt with a suppressor I would. Especially on the varmint guns.

My right ear is cooked because of high volume blasting.
