My son was drawn this year and shot a nice bull with his muzzleloader.. hoping I can draw a tag sometime before I'm to old to do anything with a tag..

How does that Buffalo Taste Jim? I know how much elk meat you guys processed from the Suffield area when we had tags, i bet that Buffalo made a few extra tubs of sausage

Now that my son and a friends son are 18, we will be soon be adding our names to this lotto draw too.

Bison is good but suffield elk is great.. it was a fun trip and we will for sure be putting in for that tag again with hopes of my name being on the next one..

I was drawn the first year of the hunt, which also means I can still put in for the 'once in a lifetime' draw as it stands now. Will do it again!

Did you kill a monster that first year Don ?

Can't imagine what it would have been like then

I can tell you it's very similar to beef but a lot leaner with a slightly different taste to it. The only meat I eat over the last few months is bison.

It was a good hunt. Two of us were drawn and we both got our bulls, mine with muzzleloader and the other with a bow. They were definitely good bulls but I'd have taken more time off in hindsight and went for a real giant. No regrets though as it was a really cool experience that I hope to do again sometime. I will say they are the size of a Honda Civic! Lol! Be prepared for cold, snow and mechanical breakdowns with the possibility of little to no help if something goes wrong.

We just went last week and killed one Don. A lot harder now and more picked over then when the draw first started up. I remember the years before the draw when I got pictures of absolute Giants standing beside the road. Not anymore 😉

Is it now a once in a lifetime draw? Never looked into it...

We killed number two Alberta giant right beside the road just one mile north of The town of Zama. This was three seasons ago

Yep you are correct.

EXCEPT for the few of us drawn in the first couple seasons. We are still able to apply for the draw.

It's no different than saying a person can't apply for a goat tag if they shot one 30 years ago when there was a season in Alberta.

Unless they just changed this No it's not once in a lifetime like the Goat, there is no priority given as it is a random draw but those who have drawn before can apply again...

I was lucky enough to get a bull in the 2010/11 season, it was a great experience!

I believe there is a member on this site who has been drawn twice already.

It absolutely should be a once in a lifetime draw, but a guy can't blame guys for reapplying if there are no rules against it - I think most everyone would.
