Nice fish! Definitely something the little guy will remember for a long time. Too big to eat though IMO - Dont hate me, but the big johnny's don't taste nearly as good as the little ones, and as spawners they help keep the lakes healthy with their good genetics.

Sometimes regulations are so bass ackwards that they dont allow for anything to be kept under 100cm. Sucks for people wanting a feed.

Nice fish!

Nice fish! Your kid must have been stoked!!!

I can't begrudge a guy for taking the big ones as I have done it myself a few times in the past, but these days I too leave them live to spawn again and maybe let another tag into them in the future. The smaller guys taste much better! To each their own though. As long as it is legal, who are we to criticize?

Excellent work my friend. Those are just right for the smoker, nice big flakes, or grind em up into wicked pike burgers. Probly work for a living like some of us and you don't make the rules. So enjoy your fish and never mind the sad sacks that try to ruin you and your sons great day.

What facts are you referring to? I said I don't prefer the taste of the big jacks over the small ones. IMO means In My Opinion, hence it's an opinion and not a fact.

Nice pics and nice pike. Good to include kids from a young age. Then by the time they are 8 they can tie on their own lures and bait. In 10 years take another picture of you guys in the same position while ice fishing. Makes a great then and now album.

Big pike make nice fillets but also easy to cut into steaks too. Stuffed and baked whole if you're feeding a group.

Nice pics and great job! Go ahead and yard those slough sharks out if you want to so the Perch multiply and become Jumbos! Glad to see you getting your youngun out to experience a catch like that. Way to go

Very nice pike, well done. Cant beat a day on the ice with the young ones as they grow up fast!

As far as taking pike so perch can become "Jumbo,s" is actually backwards. If Perch have no predators and their population is not kept in check, they will in fact stunt due to limited food and overpopulation. You will never see jumbos after the first few years, so having a balanced lake with large pike is actually beneficial.
