I'll report back on Gull and Pigeon this weekend.

Kinda nice to have someone tell you how the ice is rather than burn 80 bucks in gas only to find its unfishable

Bummer to have such warm weather this past week in the south and family fishing weekend on now. Anyone been to 40 Mile, Tilley, or Cowoki?

People driving all over crawling valley. Still got 2 feetish of ice. Fishing sucked but the ice was good. There for 4 hours. No bites. Seen one monster pike down the hole. Only fish to show up all day. Fishing in south end out from boat launch.

I was on 40 mile today by the dam, edge along the shore is about 3' of open water, it's a bit of a jump onto the ice but it's good once u walk out a bit and gets thick fast. It's warm all next week so I think this might be all she wrote for ice fishing in southern Alberta. Looking forward to getting the boat out

Yeah but that is stretching it this time of year. Sure down south around cowtown or further, I get it. You guys down there really need up to date info. But central is always the same every year and fine to the end. I'm pretty close to the end of my auger and the ice is good hard stuff.
I didn't get out today but drove to Calgary and even the sloughs looked fine - no 2 feet of water...haha
I'm headed to Gull tomorrow and know it will be good. And, no one needed to tell me that. Just common sense really.

Spray Lake had at least 24" of solid ice today -- a few holes had more. Almost bottom'd out the Jiffy a few times. Zero worries on that lake for a while yet.

Sure thing, so here it is, ice is great.
For those of you from Calgary and South that are seeing your lake ice disappear, that is not the case in central and nor has it ever been to my recollection. Gull has an inch or two of water in "some" well traveled paths. Gives the vehicle I nice wash is about all. The ice is 25-28 inches. Maybe not as good as some other lakes but otherwise just fine.
Sylvan, zero flood water and like travelling on a highway. Ice is even thicker and better than Gull. No issues.
As usual some people on this thread get some bad information and decide to spread it around instead of checking it out for themselves.

Tilley yesterday had 16-18 inches of ice, but getting soft and cloudy. If that was my last hard water trip for the year, it ended okay...

Keho Sunday
18-20" ice -top 10" was poor white ice, bottom 10" was solid dark ice. A few vehicles on the ice near the boat launch, open water in the middle of the lake.
Lots of pike action all day long several healthy keepers landed in our group and several healthy keepers released. No specific color jig or bait worked over another , they were hitting everything. No other species seen on the Camera.

Ice/fishing conditions gull lake
Bottomed out auger in many different spots on Gul Lake today. Ice is 20ish inches, literally hundreds of vehicles on the ice.
Side note, caught two keeper pikes today and a dozen 4-6" perch about 300 yards off brownlow landing.

Chin on Sunday was open in spots along the rocks at the dam. A wide step to get on and the ice was ok, soft on top but still 12-14 inches. Cooling off this week so should be good for a couple more trips.

Did anyone fish at Newell this past weekend? Just wondering if it's still safe to access I don't want to waste a trip if it's not safe to fish any longer. Thanks in advance.

Just came back from there an hour ago. We drove 1/2 ton on at Jackfish Bay & fished just off the SE corner of the big island with no issues. Having said that, it won't be long until the ice starts melting along the shoreline as it was getting a bit wet looking today. There are some very sketchy looking spots on Newell; for example just north of the boat launch at Kinbrook. You couldn't pay me to drive out there! As always be diligent & use your discretion on any of these Southern Alberta lakes this time of year
