Beaver Carcasses
Hi,
Alberta Trappers Association told me to check here for any trappers along HWY 43 willing to part with beaver carcasses over the next 8 weeks. I'll be coming from Edmonton and heading NW to Valleyview.
Please PM me if you can help out a bear baiter.
Thanks in advance.

I have as many as you need. 12 per carcass if you take more than ten, any small beaver i'll double them up. I have to take a load to Edmonton next week, i might be able to meet you some place nearby. PM me for more info.
Thanks

Guys, I'm not eating the beaver as a delicacy ... just looking to hang a few in trees to stink up the bait sites. +$10 on carcasses seems extreme.
I'll offer $3/beaver carcass and I'll pick them up.

Then, just maybe you should try taking some yourself and see what can be involved. Nobody is twisting anyone arm and its possible you may not get any now,for less than 20. It's almost not worth the hassle anymore, in dealing with some people. Can't tell what your tone is, hopefully it is with tongue in cheek...

Calm down
I've help trap, helped skin, help bait, set traps. I know the work involved. I also know that you all love doing it, just like I love the hard work involved in getting some new bear baits established.
Farmers are selling ~40lbs of oats for $4, and if I remember correctly, a 40 lbs beaver is a doozy. It does seem like $10-15 is the going average rate for a beaver. It just seems high to me considering the work & quantity involved when compared to planting, harvesting and storing oats.
I understand this is somewhat of a marketplace and if I can't get some beaver for $3 (I'll even buy 12) then so be it. I'll survive. This forum isn't the be-all and end-all of getting beavers for bait.

It cannot believe you are comparing beaver trapping to farming oats... at $3 a beaver I would not ever bother to plug in my freezer. Just use oats, they are cheaper, and don't work as well.
