Older minn kota variable speed problem

Sometimes works, sometimes not. Real Low speed works then press foot switch to speed up but it will kinda grind and stops. Thinking , bad connection or variable speed switch dirt problem. Anyone have a problem like this before ?

Was working semi fine last year but this year not.

I had a similar problem, and it was dust / dirt in the foot remote. Wasn’t able to clean it enough, so replaced the remote.

Sounds like bearings to me. Time for a new one. Trevor can put you together with another- new or remanufactured.

How old is motor? I'm guessing it's the brushes in the prop housing. Same thing happened to me last year.

Brushes are good. I think it's the armature. Can get up speed setting #5 then it goes into limp mode. Can stall it easy by putting pressure on the prop and goes into limp mode. How much is a armature ? $200 or less ?
