Default Fall Walleye

The past couple of weeks the walleye bit has been on fire. But most were small. I mean really small, some were 6”. Lots under 10”. I knew 1 day the large ones would move in and chow down on those small walleye. Well today the large ones moved in. One walleye was-at just under 31” and quite a few in that 25” range. 1 large pike to top it off. What a day.

VERY nice to see so many little ones of different sizes, and different age classes!

That is what makes a healthy fishery.

Don't feel bad about taking out a big one. It has reproduced for 20 years and its genes are in the population, and its spawning viability is greatly reduced as the reach end of life.

I think I recognize the place. Nicely done! My boat is winterized and put away until next season....
