Default First day success

Opening morning turned out great for me. I had my Moose down by 10:00AM, this after watching 3 of his smaller buddies push each other around half an hour. This was the first hunt from my new blind. Crazy thing is that since I did not get a base built for the blind it was sitting on my 25 ft flat deck at the edge of the field. The critters do not seem to mind the portable base (LOL). Before I shot my Bullwinkle, I had seen 8 moose ( 5 bulls ) since sun up. It was great to have the wife and kid with me for the recovery part
The moose in my area are still love sick. I had sprayed the trees in the area on Halloween night with moose in heat scent and gave a series of cow calls just before legal light.

The kill is the satisfying, indeed essential, conclusion to a successful hunt. But, I take no pleasure in the act itself. One does not hunt in order to kill, but kills in order to have hunted. Then why do I hunt? I hunt for the same reason my well-fed cat hunts...because I must, because it is in the blood, because I am the decendent of a thousand generations of hunters. I hunt because I am a hunter.- Finn Aagard
