Default Anyone drive from Red Deer to Rocky daily?

Got offered a job in Rocky.

Comes with a truck and gas card so that not the issue. It how is HWY 11 kept all through the winter?

Its it a bad stretch with it being all single lane?

The job is perfect for me but the daily drive is making me have second thoughts.......

Anybody do this drive on a daily basis?

It's well maintained as far as plowing goes.

Good set of winter tires would be my best advice.

It’s in decent shape most of the time.

As soon as the snow hits it can get bad. I almost went in the ditch Saturday morning cause the roads weren’t plowed yet and I was going too fast for conditions (80 km/h)

A hour drive each way will get to me I think over time is my dilemma.

Have to weight the pros/cons and make a decision shortly.

you would most likely be going against the flow of traffic so that helps

also you would be going with the sun so it is not in your eyes going and coming

both positives in my opinion

I was heading out to RMH from Sylvan Saturday morning to go hunting and aborted the mission near Eckville and went north. No issue ever on any other high way but RD to RMH in the early AM is filled with oil field idiots too stupid to allow time for road conditions. Ironically, high way 12 was a lot worse snow wise but easily traveled with no stress. Everyone was driving using common sense.

I lived in RMH and traveled to RD very often and although this is going to sound insane, it was not too bad. Many business people, especially young ladies drive from RMH to RD daily. They seem to be in no hurry and drive to conditions both to and from.

I think id miss a lot of the rush as id be leaving at 6 in the am and leaving RMH at 5ish each night.

will be listening to a lot of e-books I guess to make the drive go by. I used to work out at Joffre and that was a 30 min drive. So RD to RMH wouldn't be that bad I guess.

If you've got something to keep you busy, such as the ebooks you mentioned, time will fly by. I tore through a 130 hr, 5 book ebook series recently and was sad when it ended. I also enjoy my hour drive at the end of the day because it lets me decompress and relax. By the time I get home, any negatives I may have experienced during the day are long gone.
