Well... not much to tell, a fairly warm day out, didnt see a darn thing all mornin, so back to the ranch fer lunch, and to do some odd jobs until the afternoon hunt, which then I'd be joined by my good huntin partner. After school, we saddle up, and head to our little spot. Not much action, did some still hunting, walk a little, glass a little. Towards the end of daylight, we spooked out a doe, I could have taken her, but at 20yrds, opted to pass and wait fer a buck. Not long after, we spotted this guy, love in his eyes and hot on his girl. He was 6-700 yrds out, and the doe led him from the field, into the bush. I thought he was gone, but with the wind in our face, we quickly headed parrellel a fence line to hide our outlines, hoping that old doe would bring OL' loverboy back out. Sure enough, my partner spotted the doe 250 yrds out comin right to us. And yup...there he was right behind. We let them close the distance to about 120 yrds.. ( I couldnt take it anymore..) and Father and Son harvested a true old monarch of a whitetail. It was a very proud moment fer us both, a high that you will never replace. After hugs, highfives and handshakes... ( maybe even a tackle or 2...LOL )the real work began.
Heres my huntin partner with our buck...
