Default Grey Cup Food?

We will start the day with Eggs Benedict with homemade Back Bacon. This year will be a Smoked Brown Butter Hollandaise sauce.

Still looking for ideas for food during the game. Has always been a Venison Chili, but looking to do something different this year.

What happens at your table for Grey Cup?

I still can't believe that professional athletes are hero's... Yet our servicemen and woman are not recognized as hero's on our national news...

I like the way you think. And it pretty much guarantees the next day when you're hungover that you will be left in peace and quite, because a 20 foot radius of your azz will be considered a toxic atmosphere lol

Friday evening I will set a crockpot of chili to fester until Sunday afternoon, when my brother will bring all of the fixins for moose milk.

Home made wings.
Get some flour, some spice, dredge them, mostly cook them in the oven, finish on the BbQ, drench them in franks and butter

OMG i miss these from the Lodge.

The biggest pot bubba is talking about is a canner, that is once the Rue or base is made. It's a batch and half to feed 22+. Louisiana Gumbo with 6 lbs of Chicken, 5 lbs of Sausage and 5 lbs of Shrimp on rice. Definitely be pops and cocktails involved.

Told bubba he can come help or watch the process Saturday so long as he helps keep me hydrated......LOL...he will

I think Canada and the US do a pretty decent job of recognizing the contributions of those who serve. Especially at including them at events like the Grey Cup. (I recall a pretty awesome military tribute a few years ago at the CFR)

Besides, using a sports analogy...I think we're all pretty proud of our undefeated record in the last 2 World Wars. (2-0 baby!)

And as far as the Grey Cup game goes, I don't watch it for the worship of individual athletes, but for the love of a great competition, and the celebration of tradition, the whole country coming together to enjoy this event.
There are a lot of people who don't watch a CFL game all year, who can still enjoy getting together with friends and family and enjoying an event that at it's worst, is a simple distraction from all the nasty things in the world, like the reasons we still have good people away from their families serving in Afghanistan, or simpler mundane problems like a sick relative, a rough week at work, etc.

I hope through some satellite TV or whatever, they'll be a tent or 2 somewhere over there in Afghanistan, or up in the high Arctic, wherever they are serving, crammed with men and women watching the game for the same reasons I will be....

Just to enjoy the damn game for a few hours before we all get back to pounding all our heads against the wall on monday morning.

God bless our troops, God bless the CFL. God bless my wife's guacamole!
Bring it on!

Sorry ^^^ that was a bit of a rant.

It's not so much people that don't like sports, i get that, but people that don't appreciate the tradition and celebration of a big game that tick me off.

Back on topic...

My wife will be making a large batch of her world class guacamole.
I'll probably do a couple of trays of chicken wings, left in a rub overnight, and splashed with a bit of spicy BBQ sauce about 15 min before they're done.

Or maybe this year I'll do some beef ribs in the oven.

Usually beer or gibsons and ginger to wash it all down.
