Default Alberta Park Closures South of Willow Creek

Minister Phillips announces Alberta park closures:

"With wildfires threatening parks and campgrounds in the province, there are several current and impending closures people need to be aware of.

In southern Alberta, a full forest closure will be in place as of Monday, September 4. This closure will include all areas south of Willow Creek.

Wildfire conditions in these areas are well past the extreme level. In these conditions, wildfires can move very fast, and embers can create new fires several kilometres away.
Forecasts indicate a new fire can reach up to 45 hectares in size in under an hour.

Please stay safe and visit AlbertaParks.ca for the latest details on closures."

Looks Like the fly fisherman and Elk hunters will be affected by this announcement, Hope it rains soon!!

Parks website has all the details: http://www.albertapa...ety/advisories/

I would check for road closures on the 511 Alberta Transport website before I go anywhere.

Highway 532 is not closed, no mention anywhere on the web. It is the northern boundary of the closure area so since Bear is north of the road you should be good to go. I'm fishing the upper Highwood tomorrow and planning to head home down the trunk rd to 532 and out to 22. If I see anything different I'll let you know.

It's posted in the hunting section as well.

I was fishing the Livingston and Oldman super early on Monday and on my way out from 532, it was closed and blacked...
They left a gap for me to get out...

Which is friggin weird because I crossed from 940 southbound to 22 via 532 this afternoon and both ends of 532 were manned by conservation officers and I specifically asked both of them if 532 was closed and if I could access K-Country from the road and both said 532 is not closed as long K-Country was not shut down and I was free to access the K-country side anywhere it butted up to the road but the south side was to be considered verboden.

Indian Graves campground is also shutdown.

I believe this is what is called an "Who da hell knows?!"
