Unhappy LOST! Please help!

Hi everyone, two weeks ago I floated the Bow from McKinnon to Legacy Island. While driving from Legacy to McKinnon to start the drift, my fly rod and the case it was in fell out of the back of our truck despite being tucked between two tires and beneath our raft. I'm hoping someone saw it on the road and picked it up.....please contact me if you're that person.

The lost item is an olive green hard case, about 4.5' in length, containing my Lefty Kreh Signature Series 6 weight, 9' fly rod with reel and spare. The reel that was set up has yellow floating line on it.

As you can imagine, this is a VERY important piece of equipment and I'm happy to pay a $50 reward for it's return.

Thanks in advance.

Not to lay blame on the victim but having something similar happen early in fishing career, I now never carry my rods anywhere but in the cab of my truck. Never! I hope you get the rod and reel back soon.

Oh I don't know....maybe because we BOTH had valuable stuff go missing while we were out on a fishing trip? So I can relate to how much it sucks having important stuff go missing when your out trying to have fun fishing. What does your comment towards me have to do with the topic?

Unfortunately no. I did however find a trout net someone left lying by the river though.

No, I was out fly fishing and when I came back I set it down and I think it fell out of the back of my truck too just like the OP's fly rod and case. I was hoping someone would have seen it on the road and returned it, but no one bothered to return it, they just kept it. I guess this is what I get for trying to be sympathetic with the OP's predicament . I hope you get your stuff back FlameFan77, no one ever bothered to return mine.

Doesn't sound to me like "someone stole" it. Perhaps, if it fell out on the road, no-one saw it or perhaps they did, but it had been driven over (happened to a fly reel of mine that ended up on the road due to my carelessness). I wouldn't be jumping to the conclusion that "they just kept it".

You might be right. It was dark out at the time. There are two possible scenarios to this that I can think of. Either someone stole it out of my vehicle while I was putting my fly rod away or it fell out and someone picked it up. Maybe it was smashed up, but we were able to call it and it rang on the other end. I'm not 100% sure what happened. All I know is it went missing.

Classic sign of the onset of "cabin fever".

Maybe if you just left the net where you found it, the owner could return to that location and recover it.

I did. Same as I had returned to see if I could find my phone.

Well done. Guess you're SOL. Things don't always work out the way we want.
