Shotgun firing pin problem

My father just game me a Falco 410 side by side shotgun.

I am very new when it comes to shotguns and firearms in general.

The shotgun has two triggers, When you pull one trigger the firing pin engages and everything is hunky dory... Happy....Happy....Happy...

When you pull the second trigger nothing happens. The trigger doesn't feel stuck. it seems to have play but it lacks the necessary noise and movement to make things go bang.

When I break the action and look at both pins. I can fire one and the pin comes out but when I pull the trigger on the other one nothing happens.

Id appreciate any help.

I should say that I imagine I'll have to take it to a smith but was trying to see if there was something I could do before.

Give it a squirt of G96 and see if that loosens the pin up.

Based on your post, sounds like it may have been sitting for a while. Start with the simple fix, give it a good cleaning and try it again.

Pull the stock off and take a look. The fix might be obvious.

I agree, might be nothing but it could be a broken sear or spring

Sounds like a broken or out of place V-spring. If it is broken, you may have difficulties finding one. In which case, a new one needs to be made from flat stock spring steel. As Cat mentioned, it needs to be dismantled and inspected.

Just a thought. Dry firing is a faux past, but its difficult to verify the 2nd pin is moving or not. Clean it and use a flattened piece of brass against the pin hole, held with firm finger pressure. When you pull the trigger the brass will protect the pin and you should feel it striking. Whatever you use it should be somewhat soft and lay flush over the breach face.

Believe it or not that is how you clean that part of the shot gun. I was having terrible problems with my 20 ga. Yildiz and a distinguished member of this form took it apart and cleaned it.

I squirted all kinds of stuff in there and it didn't work, taking the stock off and doing it right worked great.

BTW you don't ever want a slam fire, especially if you or your friends have a dog.
