Default bow press

how many have them ... how many want one... I saw in the classifieds a guy selling an xpess for 200 the jack part is broke he said, cant see that being to hard to fix... its not bad press.... I find the last chance one faster to use but some bows you need an adapter cause the limbs have quite the curl to them....

I have a lca press with the adapters for the highly pre-loaded limbs. It wasn't cheap once the smoke cleared, but there is not a bow out there that I can't work on safely with 100% confidence that I'm not going to wreck something. I do the vast majority of my own bow work, but from time to time will consult Lawrence on some of the more technical or obscure jobs.

Default bow press

I have had one for a while and really appreciate being able to do small adjustments. Mine will not press the newer bows without the adjusters which are another $200.
If you are looking, make sure it does what you need it to do.

Normand did you get the draw board for it as well ... no there not cheap... I plan on making a draw board for my lca press which will make it even easier to set up a bow ...

I built my own draw board a few years ago. If I get around to it I'll post a picture. The draw board is undoubtedly one of my most valued assets to super tune my bows. If you do your own work, you can't be without one

The lca models are a lot of dollars! You can make something that works well for pretty cheap.

Got a last chance easy press deluxe. Wouldn't go without one now.

Built my own draw board and arrow saw. I was going to make a draw board for my LCA, but trying to find a small winch likes LCA's is impossible. My big boat winch would be pretty gaudy on my press.

Are you looking for a picture of the press or my homemade draw board?

Go on archery talk and do a search. There are already people doing what you want to do. One guy on there builds them for like half the price from lca. You might be able to source a winch from someone on there.

I did a search there last night and found it.
http://www.archerydezign.com is the website.
Looks like he's charging $150usd for his system. Looks pretty nice, but I'm sure there is a cheaper solution out there.

i saw that too looks good but I think I will just have to come up with something my self ... I did a search on archery talk but 99% of them are a board and boat winch which is fine I just don't have the room for that ... I think I will just take a part a ratchet strap and use some para cord...

The ratchet strap and paracord thing is likely a winner, and very economical. Might I suggest a small turn-buckle going to the loop or the string so you can "micro" the cables into the stops. I did this on my draw board, and it is way nicer than needing to catch the next pawl to get the winch to hold.

The ratchet straps are sketchy coming down from full draw to get a slow let down. Careful not to dry fire your bow.

Good advise ... the micro adjustment will be the press... that's kind why I wanted it to work with the press....
