Default 1 Tonne Winter Tires??

What's everyone running on their 3/4 and 1 tonnes? What's been working the best? I have an F350 and have a 18" Kaltire generic Wild Country XTX all season on it that are a bit worn and not cutting the mustard. Would love to switch to a Bilzzak or equivalnet........

Do you still run an E rated tire? Or do you drop down to a D rated for a bit more selection? My truck is a personal truck only so I don't haul anything at all during winter, really only get's worked when we head out camping so I'd think a D rating would be fine??......

Thanks

I run Goodyear wrangler duratrac, good year round tire. And you can easily find them in e rating.

I've heard lots of good things about duratracs. Got a set going on tomorrow at fountain tire.

If you're going for dedicated winter tires In E Range, for something like the duratrac, definitely get them studded.

I've often wondered about D rated tires for winter. My truck is just used for hauling a truck camper in summer but it is empty come winter. I would have to check out other forums to see.

Quite a few of the winter tires are good for 3/4T+ trucks. General Altimax is pretty good, studdable too. One caution with the Blizzac, they're a great car tire because they're super soft, once they're on a heavier truck, they wear like crazy because they're TOO soft. Nokians are great tires too. Duratrac seems to be the AOF forum favorite. I run a set of dedicated winters on my 1T dodge and it is night and day difference. That hunk of metal on the front makes the back end so light I couldn't go anywhere with a slight incline in 2wd with my regular michelin allseasons. I don't always want to run in 4x4 on the highways, so winters are a great comprimise.

A coworker tried a set of D's on his 3/4 ton F250... Lasted about 3 months of mixed gravel and pavement then the casings started to separate... Mind you a 7.3L is quite a bit of weight to be holding up but still...

I picked up a new set of 285/75R16 E duratracks for $1280 out the door plus a $80 mail in rebate, so far I really like em...

I just put Nokian Hakkapeliitta LT's on my 2500 Savana, which is typically loaded heavy to very heavy and they've been great in the short time I've had them on this year. Another manufacturer I've had great experience with is Toyo, they have a somewhat new LT winter tire for those carrying more significant loads that I'd not hesitate to get based on how Toyo's were for me previously. I'll note that I have no personal experience with this model, but I'd happily get them myself.

I hope they do you good. Had a set that only lasted just over50000km with rotations done religiously. Said they had 80000km tread warranty on them, wrong. Never buy another set of Bridgestone in my life, just my experience. Dura trac by far best tires I've had, got a set on my f150, had set of 33"x12.5 on Mazda and when tires wear on my f350 there going on.

Yes, and had the best luck for mileage with them.

They are not the best off road. But I pretty much doubled the mileage I was getting from my Toyo M55's... and they are about half the price!

Not bad on ice either.

I drive 80 pavement 20 gravel.
