Would be interesting to compare results here with actual sales figures in Alberta. Then we would know (or atl least sense) whether this is a "list of what we got", or a "wish list".

I don't own a Sako, never shot a Sako. But if someone said "You can have any Remington you want or any Sako you want, for free", I'd probably take the Sako on reputation alone. I wouldn't pay my own money for one though.

I find the results here in this poll to be odd to say the least .....Sako at 19%????? No way. They make great guns but I would bet that 50% of Alberta hunters have never even held a Sako to their shoulder let along bought one to form any kind of valid opinion. Most would hear the sky high price and that is where it ends. I am not saying this because I am against Sako either, I have owned 3 in my day.

And Browning at 20%.....in their dreams!

Nope, this poll is meaningless, unscientific and clearly not valid. The only results I would take as a true sampling are the actual sales numbers for a year from across Canada, or even from just Alberta. My bets are that Remington would score 40%-50% without any trouble.
The poll surprised me as well!
I thought Savage would be higher, because I see so many and hear about so many, but to have Sako at the top was out there!!
it naturaly is not a valid cross section, because as you say, there was only 105 entered.

I have shot Remingtons, sakos, Heyms, Kongsbergs, Merkels, in fact there are hew that I haven't shot except for a few of the high end Brits, but I have owned most firearms that the avaerage guy buys, and found the Remington
700 very utilitarian as a rifle, but then I think the same of the Savage.
Neither has an atcion I am fond of for hunting......

I'd have to pick T.C as my #1 wide variety of calibers, Next would be Savage that accutrigger is awsome and very accurate Then comes the Remingthons #700 . But like Dick says who cares as long as they shoot straight .

You know polls are also used by Strippers and Dogs.

But you knew that when you started this?

I think the pole has served it purpose. The original question was “What your favourite gun make?” That is a very broad question, but it’s also the point; There is no explanation required. It didn’t ask “which gun maker is the best, most accurate or anything that can be debated with statistics or actual reasoning. Instead this question is just plain fun and proves nothing, except what gun maker is more popular in Alberta. It would be the same as if someone posted what is your “favourite type of woman Blonde, Brunette or Red-head.” You’d most likely answer from past experience or the mere physical looks. You might answer blonde even though you’re married to a brunette, just like the guy who owns the remmy because he can’t afford the sako (that was an example, I’m not saying which one is better) haha. Your guaranteed to get a biased answer, but that’s what the question is all about, and that’s the fun of it.

I have owned boltguns in Savage, Remington and Browning, as well as a couple mausers and enfields, and i always seem to gravitate back to the rugers, just picked up my fifth yesterday
