Default Elliston Park lake has fish?? how

So yesterday I got some break time and wondered with my dog in this Elliston Park which was a sizable lake. I saw a lot of small fish and a dried and flattened carcass of a 7-inch panfish of sort. I was surprised. This area is surrounded by industrial areas and dump sites. There was garbage on the banks and in the shallows. Plus where the hell did these fish come from, I don't see any link with the Bow etc on the map. Dirty waters have more fish I guess...

No, not a carp or goldfish for sure, from the skeleton it had very high forehead and a protruding beak, like a cartoon pony

I'm sure not, cos the skeleton is different, I did not photo but it had high forehead and thinner pointed mouth, like a wolf cichlid:

the fins look similar too
of course without being a cichlid..

That pond is a storm water retention pond. It is used to allow sediment to settle out of the water before it enters the storm sewer and eventually the river.

I agree with others assessment, non-native species have been released in there. The City, & F&W have been draining ponds and/or poisoning to remove these invasive species, before they enter creeks and rivers.
