Default Jason Nixon's Grizzly Bear comments

Did anyone else get a glimmer of hope for a resumed G-bear hunt when Jason Nixon commented on the recent bear attack?

I haven't seen one this season, but last year I saw 4.

Typical politician. Trying to please everyone and avoid the issue. He tried damned hard not to say anything about a possible Hunt.

If he pushes hard for it you just know APOS will get first crack.

Both residents and outfitters will likely get a crack at the same time if that happens.

But don’t hold your breath

Actually I am holding my breath, I think the government is starting to acknowledge that there is a lot of grizzlies and they are causing a lot of problems. Here’s hoping 🤞

They've been close to opening it up before. This may be the push needed.
Not sure what APOS has to do with it. Don't recall any non-resident/outfitter tags previously

I thought Jason Nixon was well spoken, and that his comments were very appropriate. It’s refreshing to hear a politician stand up for what his biologists are telling him - instead of what the eco-zealots want to hear.

Wouldn't hurt to send an email to your local MLA about what boots on the ground are seeing. Squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Yes I know it’s cbc…sorry only link I could find

Nixon talked in a circle, like every other politician. We are no closer to a grizzly bear hunt

KVT needs to find some “unfortunate circumstances” to shut his ecoterrorist yap.

My MLA is part of the People's Republic of Alberta...I mean NDP. I think any letter written by 50 year old white guys go into the circular receptacle. Literally any other demographic is more important.

Only 400 according to some back when the hunt was shut down. Its likely they wouldn't say its much higher now. 1000? 1600? They'll never say but the bios have a pretty good idea.

If the government can’t manage the grizzly bear population hunters and farmers need to manage it.

I honestly just can’t see how a large griz population benefits us at all…is there something I’m missing? Harvest is a good idea to keep the #’s more in check. I’m not a bear hunter, but like seriously, how the he11 did someone come up with the idea that increasing the number of man eating carnivores is a good thing? Never understood this. Must be the types that want to swim with great whites…

Jason is a slimy career politician that does nothing but float around shaking hands and kissing babies. He had a real opportunity to do some good for Alberta and the grizz and failed.

Hopefully one day in my lifetime or my children's we will have a government who cares first about their residents hunting opportunities vs apos & non residents.

I'm not holding my breath. Bringing back the grizz hunt would be about the lowest priority of the government. It would amount to an unforced error.

Every greenoid on the planet would pile on. What's the upside?

I'm all for more hunting opportunities and would support a hunt but there's nothing but grief in it for the government.

Here is the push they need!

This fella doesn’t like people fishing in his spot.
