Alberta backroads maps have some old mine sites noted on them with crossed picks. Mostly coal mines though, no real gold to speak of being mined in alberta.

Go into google and type in any combination, abandoned gold mines alberta B.C, old gold mines alberta, B.C., gold mines in Alberta, gold mines in B.C. there isn't really a lot of stuff for Alberta as there was never much in the way of gold however B.C. is a great resource and there are tons within a five hour drive from Calgary. Also for B.C. type in Atv abandoned gold mines B.C.. quadding abandoned gold mines B.C. Give her a shot. If you are having problems pm me and I will give you all of my favourites. The websites many times have maps you can print off or directions.

there are no gold claim areas in alberta , some guys pan north sask river, red deer river, and bow riverthey find a little color thats all
if you want to do some panning and are looking for maps where to go, you can buy claims map from any gold commisioners office in bc, if you pan on someone elses claim without permission thats trespassing so be careful

I've heard some guys pan in gravel pits. There was an article about it in the Edmonton Journal back in the 90's.
