Default Wasp Broadheads

Just curious if anyone tried the new wasp Drone broadheads this hunting season? If so, how did they perform? (Doesn't necessarily have to be the drones, I would love to hear some reviews on any of the wasp broadheads.)

I've used the boss for years, they flew great all the time... seen lots of broad head test done and they were never at the top and never at the bottom always in the upper half of the tests they did... this year I switched to mechanical just because I'm putting out more kinetic energy... but will keep the ones I still have for my son...

The Wasp broadheads have been around for a long time was one of the first replaceable fixed blade heads...the first design sucked with smooth missle tip heads..lost energy quick...I hit a bull elk at 40 yards went between two ribs and between ribs on exit...however it didnt peretrate hide on exit and actually and I swear bounced back out of elk 12 feet towards me...

Given the elk only went feet instead of yards and was done in seconds due to razor sharp blades...

The new heads like the Drone have that SST tip like a tri hollow chisel point ...sharp enough to penertrate...strong like the muzzys...

Nice thing is they come with two sets of extra replaceable blades...

I would not be skeered to try them...

The 1985 edition of wasp broadheads. 1st broadhead i ever used. Penetration equivalent to that of a large rubber blunt.

Have some of those that I bought way back. Took a big doe that went about 50 yards before bleeding out. They do fly nice. Had through penetration.

It was after elk described above that we did the test on broadheads with a green hide and scale to see how many pounds it took for each head to penertrate hide...it was wasp and a few other missle type tip heads that took 40 lbs to penertrate...while other cut on contact was minimal 8-10 lbs

Hence why we dont see this style of broahead tips any more...they just were not effective...however it their time they were inovative ...locking replaceable blades...then Thunderheads came along and the rest is history

I shoot the G5 Strikers with a simular head tip as the modern Wasps...punched thru Wild Boar armour with no problems...a lot tuffer than elk, moose etc...

What a coincidence. The broadheads in the picture are the ones I am still using now. Even have some left in the original pkg.
Had no issue on penetration on the 2 deer I bowed this year. Arrows went clean through and were recovered.

haha. They actually bounced off the first deer i shot from a bear pronghorn set at 55 lbs. The 2216 game getter I was probably screaming at 175 FPS.

Default Broadheads

175 fps will easily kill ANYTHING we have in alberta. Combine that speed with a good weight arrow that's properly tuned and put it in the right place.
