Default Cold Lake area residents with PAL.

I've got a bit of a problem. Just moved to the base in Cold Lake and living in the shacks. Unfortunately for me I am not allowed to store firearms where I live. So unless I wanted to register my rifles with the MPs and have them store my guns where they choose I cannot bring my guns up here.

If you are legally allowed to possess firearms, and have an extra spot in your safe, I would appreciate it if I could store one of mine with you.

Please be trust worthy too, lol.

Thanks

Mitch.

The lock up on the base is pretty good.registering your firearms with them is so that you get yours back.
They are a pretty good group of guys there.

I did that with the mps in Edmonton and had no issues they will secure them not just throw them in a closet. Unless you are trying to hide your guns from them then I would definitely store them there!

You think you will have 24/7 access if they were in someone's house? Probably not. It will require the same amount of effort if not more if you store them at a private residence.

A few of the MPs there will probably have some great advice on tweaking your rifles. Even better advice on where to go hunting and shooting.

Right.

I went throughn this in Wainwright a few years back.
They will probably try to throw them in the evidence locker.

The shacks are your HOME... unless you are in training quarters.

Read the law.

Ask them to provide you the names and proof of being licensed of EVERYONE that might have access to that storage.
Ask them where and how they will store the ammo.
Then ask them about insurance.
You are required to know by law and you are still responsible for your property.

I did that in WRT and the next day the Base Sherrif helped me carry a gun locker to my room.

Just read the law and ask (in writing) and respectfully.
Quote the law.
And make sure you staff that through your C of C to the Base Commander.

This is an old standard policy that DND has been slow to update because most guys just SFU and do what they are told.
They don't have any legal footing here... trust me.

I used to always store my guns at the base armory. Access was always good but then I never woke up at 3am rushing to get at a firearm for some reason. I always had a good idea when I was going to use them next.

As for having a gun locker in my room, back in the day those rooms were small enough without all that extra crap. I now have a gun locker the size of my old room
